Website Sliders

Below is one of a handful videos Wrigley's Gum used to be part of the conversation that is happening on social sites right now. Using fun and trendy methods to reach target demographics is a key way to become part of fresh, online buzz…plus they are really funny!

Another means of creating a viral following is utilizing a microsite. They are small simple spaces where a brand can feature a new product or service without weighing down an already heavy central website. Lauren Drell writes RIGHT HERE in an interesting Mashable article on viral branding. ENjoy!

The Lost and Found

Earlier this month, Apple reported that, once again, a prototype had been lost in a bar. It was traced back to a man's apartment in San Francisco where upon the residence was searched by authorities claiming to be police officers. As many of the news outlets had reported, it was unclear if the "authorities" were actual police or just Apple security officials.

If all of this sounds familiar, trust us, your not having an acid flashback. Along the same timeline, but during the summer of '10, the prototype of the iPhone 4 was lost…in a bar…by an employee…only to have it end up on Gizmodo in a publicized leak of epic proportion. Once again, does this still sound fishy!?

I am a sucker for the "unveiling" of all Apple products, but it doesn't take much to see the machine at work here. When the sales numbers are looked at along a large span of time for new Apple products, it is  a cut and dry blow out. Verizon's largest product debut EVER was the iPhone 4, before that it was the iPhone 3GS, iPod Nano & new Mac computers + new software updates. The marketing department understands the concept of bad publicity=good publicity. However, this isn't bad publicity, except for the employee who "lost" it. We all are waiting impatiently for the leak that will come soon from all of this. Though it is also highly probable that this is just a ploy to tease the public into not forgetting about the launch in Oct (unconfirmed). In my opinion it is both. This is the season when the public is hustling and bustling to make ends meet for the upcoming holiday season, and we all know that the new FUN stuff from Apple is either spring or fall. Keep your eyes in the lost and found boxes around town because you never know what you will come across.

.PS. the prototype is still MIA
